What can you do/see?
Dalen has a lot to offer. Aside from walking in its overwhelming nature, you can enjoy a paddle tour on the Telemark canal, drive your own moose safari, rent a mounain bike, do some fishing...
Canoe and Bike rental:
We rent out bikes (regular bikes and mountain bikes) and canoes. Enjoy a paddle tour on the Telemark canal and whiteness the beautiful scenery and the relaxing peacefulness. Discover Norway from the water surface, have a pick nick along the shore and admire wildlife all around. Here you can choose the distance according to your needs, whether you have small children or want a really challenging trip with friends. For those interested in a trip for several days we have some good news. The Telemark canal is described as one of the paddle pearls of the world. Unique on the canal is that you can combine your paddle holiday with a boat trip. The canal boat takes care of the transport back, as well for you as for the canoe!!
Another possible combination is the do a tour with the mountain bike along the canal, and come back with the canal boat.

Hiking:
Dalen has many well-marked paths ranging from 3-4 km to 12-15 km, often passing various cultural memorials. The paths can be found in the lowland and at higher altitudes. Nature and culture maps with marked paths are available for free at the Bed & Breakfast.

Drive your own moose safari:
No tourist should leave Norway without seeing the king of the forest: The moose. Come to Dalen and see this giant, a real must for every nature lover! At our reception you receive a plan with the route you have to drive to find the moose. At nightfall you can drive with your own car. Success guaranteed!!!

The Telemark Canal:
A tour with one of the canal boats – Victoria, and Henrik Ibsen - is to be recommended for those who like to see the landscape in a calm and relaxed way. Combined boat/bus round tours are very popular.
Eidsborg Stave Church:
As a little castle in a fairy tale, the Eidsborg stave church lies on top of one of the mountains that surround Dalen. This small stave church from the 13th century is dedicated to St. Nicolas, the guardian angel of travellers..

The Rui Farm:
On the steep mountain over Dalen lies Rui, the farm where the tiny sisters Ingerine and Gurine lived. They became famous across the land as "The Rui girls who came to the king". The beautifully illustrated book about them can be looked in at the Bed & Breakfast. It is a very nice walk to the farm and it starts right behind the Bed & Breakfast.

The Raven Gorge:
A natural phenomenon along the county road from Dalen to Vinje, a 350 meter high fall towards the Tokke river. Throw a bill over the edge and see if it rises again with an upward going air flow! A beautiful panorama over the surrounding area.
